What Car? Car of the Year Judges praise Nissan’s “unbeatable package”

If you want a great driving experience to start the year, then look no further than Nissan’s brand new Qashqai. The car, which originally defined the crossover category, has won the top gong in What Car? Car of the Year 2014 Award for its new model that redefines the segment all over again, bringing, quotes What Car? Editor in Chief Chris Hallett,...”excellence and polish to a class that is brimming with talent and tempting buys”. He continues...”the new Qashqai delivers low costs, first class levels of comfort, refinement, space and safety”.

Nissan Ireland’s head of Marketing, Jeanne McGann said “it’s fantastic news that the new Qashqai has received such an accolade.   The previous version has been such a success, it was hard to see how it could be improved upon but with its bold new design, an increase in the overall size, a suite of new technologies, refined engine technology delivering lower emissions and even greater fuel efficiency, we are confident that it really and truly is an unbeatable package. The New Qashqai will be available at Nissan dealerships across the country from 22nd January 2014 – interest in the car has been exceptional and the challenge for us will be matching supply with demand”.

As well as winning the overall Car of the Year award, the Qashqai also won the Small SUV category and the new X-Trail, due to be released in July 2014, was voted the ‘Most Anticipated Car of 2014 by visitors to www.whatcar.com, scooping the What Car? Readers Award.
